Four females, aged 13, 14, 17 and 21, and a male, 17, are jointly charged with causing grievous bodily harm, assault with a weapon, threatening to kill and theft. Detective Sergeant Ricky Thompson said the victim, a man in his mids, and the accused were at a social gathering at an apartment in central Hamilton early on Saturday morning. They allegedly stripped him naked and stuffed his clothes in his mouth as a gag and then beat him repeatedly, Mr Thompson said. The attack went on for over an hour before the man managed to escape. A bone in his face was shattered and he was covered with bruises. Four of the young people appeared in Hamilton Youth Court this morning.
